Dual Wheel Marking Gauge
A wheel marking gauge is undoubtedly one of the most used tools by all woodworkers. It ensures accurate marking on your workpiece and allows measurement transfer as opposed to taking repeated measurements which reduces any kind of error. Two precision brass cutting wheels cut the wood fibres cleanly, rather than tearing to prevent the marked line from wandering to give highly accurate lines, even on cross grain. The large rectangular face of the gauge gives a solid platform against the workpiece edge, to aid stability when marking. There are two independently adjustable stainless-steel rods, enabling precise mortice and tenon marking out, or you can set the two rods at different measurements and you can switch between them. One of the rods has a marking wheel with an inward facing bevel which pulls the face of the gauge against the stock, heightening the accuracy and ensuring a true parallel line.
The body of the gauge has been produced from a single piece of aircraft grade aluminium that is precision machined to ensure the face sit true to the workpiece. The face of the body of the gauge is considerably larger than conventional marking gauges and offers the benefit of greater stability and improved accuracy. The body has been beautifully finished by electrochemical anodisation making it corrosion and scratch resistant. The two brass knurled locking knobs secure and hold the stainless-steel rods in place until released, ensuring the measurements do not differ. The hardened brass blades are stored inside the face of the gauge for protection.
The rods measure 215mm in length with the face of the marking gauge measuring 85mm x 25mm. ©
